Although he was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Cal considers himself
a native of Mobile, Alabama having grown up there and graduating from Murphy High School in 1989. Cal enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in 1991 while attending Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where he was a Political Science major. He was a member of the 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company in Mobile until he was honorably discharged in 1996. Cal has been active in local, regional, and National veteran’s causes for over fifteen years. He is also a member of the South Alabama Veterans Council and is active in supporting the veteran’s community throughout the local area, including the Biloxi VA Hospital and the Green Veterans Home. He is also a project coordinator for Operation Never Forget, having coordinated production of five busts of fallen heroes of The War on Terror. Cal and his wife, an Army veteran, live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast along with their three children and two Labs.
